An excellent opening partnership of 51 between Adam Benton (31) and Rav Chahal (20) got Cannock off to a flying start in the first round of the Staffs Clubs T20 knockout. Faizan Khan then continued the home side’s momentum with a superb 42 from 30 balls while Will Fleet ensured the innings finished strongly with 40 not out from 30 balls. Cannock finished on a demanding total of 155-5 from their 20 overs.

Penn were never in the game as Chahal (1-3) and Elliott Horton (2-12) both took wickets in their opening overs. As bad light stopped play after 15.1 overs, the visitors were 65-6, meaning that Cannock comfortably progressed through to the next round.
